Soft watercolor leaf birthday card

Hi! Today i am sharing this ‘soft watercolor leaf birthday’ project

I started with die cutting the outline clustered leafs from SSS and two times the ‘birthday’ word from Create A Smile Stamps  -cool cuts -birthday triple.
I used Lawn fawn cardstock -lawn fanwdamentals fog.
I also die cut the leaf on vellum.

I created a card panel with Strathmore -mixed media paper vellum surface.

I used two inner pieces from the clustered leafs.
I placed them on a piece of craft foam and drew around the outline with a black pen. I cutted them out and i cutted them in half.
I used two old acrylic blocks where i could tape them down on. I used double sided tape for it.
Now i created my own stamps that would match the clustered leafs die cut perfectly.

here are my home made leaf stamps with craft foam

I layered the leaf die cut (which i cut in half) on the card panel. This way i had an idea of where i wanted my watercolor leafs.
I used my all time favorite ink for this Distress Oxides! Really i can’t think of a card where i didn’t used these awesome inks hahaha. Concider me as a big time fan!
For this card i used the Distress Oxide inks bundled sage, fossilized amber and victorian velvet.
I used the foam leafs just as a stamp. I inked them and stamp them. But!..for this soft look, i first stamped them on a piece of scrap paper. Then i stamped them on the places where i wanted, softly! You don’t need much ink to give this soft look leaf. Then i got a fine pencil and used a bit of water to give the leafs that watercolor look.
I did this color by color. So i let the first color dry completely before i started with the next color. This way you can handle the contamination of the colors mostly.
And that’s it…then you have your own watercolored leafs!! Easy peasy right??!

I glued the leaf die cuts on the card panel. Just the middle. I added a few leafs from vellum here and there.

I wrapped some natural wax thread around the card panel. And added a little bow.

I glued the vellum leaf die cut under the thread.

I glued the ‘birthday’ word on the card panel and added the ‘wishes’ word from Create A Smile Stamps -from my nest stamp set. I stamped it with Distress Oxide ink bundled sage.

For some extra interest i splattered the three Distress Oxide colors mixed with water on the card. Only the bundled sage color at the top part.

I added some rhinestones and sequins for a sparkle.

If you want to check this easy way of watercoloring more. My Inspiration for this was from Karin Joan,
